Call for Candidate Sites
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is calling for developers, landowners and the public to submit sites that could be included for new development, redevelopment or protection within a revised Local Development Plan. This could be for any land use including:
- Recreation and leisure,
- Other community facilities,
- Gypsy and travellers,
- Minerals and waste and
- Renewable energy technology
There is no guarantee that the sites suggested at this stage will be taken forward. However, their submission will enable the Council to assess the suitability and availability of these areas. This information can then be used when formulating a strategy for the future development of sites across the Borough.
How to submit a Candidate Site
At this initial stage the minimum information required in order for sites to be considered is:
- A plan showing a red line boundary of the proposed site. An ordnance survey (OS) map of minimum scale 1:2500 is required which clearly indicates the site boundary.
- Completion of a submission form. Forms are available to download here. Part 1 of the form must be completed. You are encouraged to complete as much of Part 2 of the form as possible. A separate form must be completed for each individual site submitted.

Copies of the form are available from the Development Plans team based at the Civic Centre - Ebbw Vale, Anvil Court - Abertillery, all local libraries.

The closing date for submission is midnight on Thursday 24th January 2019.
Please note that the information provided cannot be treated as confidential and all candidate sites submitted will be available for public inspection. As a result of submitting a candidate site your details will automatically be added to the Council’s LDP Database.
