Universal Credit

Universal Credit is a new single means-tested support for working age people who are both in and out of work. Universal Credit will combine six existing benefits and tax credits into one single payment. Visit our Universal Credit section and Universal Support section for further details.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Since April 2013 a new benefit called Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Allowance has gradually been introduced to replace Disability Living Allowance for those aged 16-64.

Council Tax Reduction Scheme

If you have difficulty paying your council tax, please contact the benefit section on 01495 311556 or at benefits@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk as you may be eligible for additional help in the form of council tax reduction.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - Tell Blaenau Gwent Council Benefits Section if you have made a claim for Universal Credit and make a separate claim for Council Tax Reduction and Free School Meals if appropriate.
