Customer Services
C2BG (the Council’s Contact Centre) will close at 12.00pm on 24th December 2025 and reopen at 8am on 2nd January 2026.
The Emergency out-of-hours service can be contacted on the usual number of 01495 311556 during this period.
The Piper Alarm service will also continue to operate. Enquiries regarding Piper lifeline alarms out of office hours should be directed to 0330 678 1097.
If you experience any issues with your equipment, such as your alarm or pendant not working, between 12 noon on Wednesday 24th December 2025 and 9am on Friday 2nd January 2026 (excluding Christmas Day), please contact Taking Care, your Alarm Monitoring Centre, on 0330 678 1097.
Social Services Duty Team
The Duty Team Office will close at 12.30pm on 24th December 2025 and reopen at 8am on 2nd January 2026. You can contact the Emergency Duty Team for Social Services on 0800 328 44 32.
Registration Services
The Registration Service is open for appointments until 1pm and then telephone queries until 4pm on Tuesday 23rd December.
Telephone queries only on Wednesday 24th December until 12:30pm. Death Registrations from 30th to 31st December 10am until 2pm by appointment only. Normal service will resume on Friday, 2nd January 2026.
Community Hubs
Will close at 12.30pm on 24th December 2025 and reopen at 9am on 2nd January 2025. Community Hubs will close at 5pm on the 23rd December and reopen at 9am on January 2nd 2026.

Waste and Recycling
Recycling and Refuse collections will be two days late during Christmas week and one day late during the New Year period. Collections will resume as normal from Monday 5th January 2026. See here for full details on Refuse and Recycling collections
Nappy and Hygiene sacks will be collected from the usual collection point on Sunday 28th December 2025 and Saturday 3rd January 2026.
The Council’s Recycling Centres (including The Den Reuse Shop at HWRC Abertillery) will be open during the Christmas and New Year period between the hours of 9am and 5.30pm (last entry 5.20pm) for residents to dispose of waste material. Both sites will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day only. Please note, that both sites will still be closed on their usual closure day, which is every Tuesday at Roseheyworth and every Thursday at New Vale.
