Joe Nash
Joe Nash, a 22-year-old from Brynmawr, has been named Blaenau Gwent’s first Welsh Language Champion. Despite coming from a non-Welsh-speaking family, Joe’s passion for languages was sparked at school and nurtured through his studies at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone and Swansea University, where he pursued a degree in foreign languages through the medium of Welsh.
Joe’s journey has taken him from local classrooms to teaching in Spain, and now back to Brynmawr Foundation School, where he’s training as a teacher. He’s known for inspiring others with his commitment to the Welsh language, helping students build confidence, identity, and pride in their culture.
Joe’s story highlights the transformative power of learning Welsh, and the impact one person can have in promoting the language.
