Combined Engineering Services Limited (CES Ltd) are a Specialist Engineering company based on Barleyfield Industrial Estate, Brynmawr.
CES Ltd designs and manufactures special-purpose equipment for the manufacturing sector. Their products range from simple hand tools that assist in product assembly to fully automated systems for assembling and testing automotive components.
The company currently employs an apprentice through the Council’s Aspire programme and has previously offered full-time positions to two former apprentices, demonstrating its commitment to local talent development.
With support from the Blaenau Gwent Business Development Grant, CES Ltd has purchased a new XYZ 750 TMC CNC machining centre. This investment will enable the company to take on more complex projects, improve operational efficiency, and begin a broader workshop upgrade strategy aimed at long-term growth and diversification into new markets.
Steve Williams, Director of CES Ltd said ‘The business development grant has enabled CES to adopt new technology, diversify its operations and support sustainable growth.
Councillor John Morgan, Cabinet Member – Place & Regeneration and Economic Development said, ‘It’s great to see how the grant has helped CES acquire new machinery, allowing them to diversify and grow their business. I was pleased to meet and talk to employees and apprentices who have been part of the Aspire Apprenticeship Programme, it was great to hear how Aspire is also supporting both the company and local young people.’

The Blaenau Gwent Business Development Grant is funded by UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund and managed by the Business & Innovation Team at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. The Business Development Grant aims to support the growth and development of new and existing businesses in Blaenau Gwent.
