Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is proud to announce its participation in Meals on Wheels Week 2025, taking place from 3rd to 7th November. This initiative celebrates the vital role that community meals services play in supporting older adults and vulnerable residents across the UK—and right here in Blaenau Gwent.
Meals on Wheels Week aims to:
- Highlight the social, economic, psychological, and preventative benefits of Meals on Wheels services across the UK.
- Promote the immense value of community-based meal services, encouraging public support for local provision.
- Raise awareness of the importance of Meals on Wheels—whether delivered to homes or day centres.
- Address and increase understanding of loneliness, social isolation, and safety concerns affecting older and vulnerable people.
In Blaenau Gwent, Community Meals is more than a food delivery service. It provides daily nourishment, welfare checks, and meaningful social interaction—empowering residents to live independently and safely in their own homes. The service also helps alleviate pressure on local health and social care systems by reducing isolation and promoting wellbeing.
Together, let’s ensure that no one in Blaenau Gwent goes without the support they need.
If you are interested in taking up community meals you can contact the Adult Services IAA Team on 01495 315700 or visit our website for more information about the service Meals on wheels | Blaenau Gwent CBC
