AMBER WEATHER WARNING - Be Prepared

The Met Office have issued an Amber Weather Warning for rain on Friday the 14th November from midday.

A yellow warning for rain is in place from 6am on Friday.

Storm Claudia is expected to bring very heavy rain leading to flooding and disruption throughout Friday.

If you see a drain near your home that is covered in leaves, it will help our response if you could clear the leaves to allow water to flow down the drain.  Also moving cars that are covering drains will help our crews clear gullies.

We will have extra staff working around the clock in preparation for the rain, checking streams and culverts, clearing gullies / drains and responding throughout the day tomorrow and monitoring known hotspots.

Where appropriate and where resources allow we will also deploy heavy plant, pumps and sandbags to areas in greatest need and to maintain highway safety.

What you can expect
- Spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions, some road closures, and delays or cancellations to train and bus services
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life
- Homes and businesses flooded and damage to some buildings
- Loss of power and other essential services, such as gas, water or mobile phone services, is possible
- Some communities could be cut off by flooded roads

Follow the Met Office and Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales for regular weather and river updates.

We will provide regular local updates on services and local issues on all our channels as we receive them.
