LGBTQ+ Stories: Exploring the GLAGG collection
Wednesday 11 February
1:00-pm - 2:00pm.

The Gwent Lesbian and Gay Group were established in April 1986 and organised a variety of events, discos, meetings and trips in Gwent as well as proactively spreading information on HIV and AIDS. This brief
lunchtime talk will highlight the active role the group held in Gwent, wider links across communities in South Wales, the inclusivity and diversity of the group and how the group fought for social justice.

Women's History Month: Stories from the women of Usk Gaol
Wednesday 18 March
I:00pm - 2:00pm.

Women's stories are often forgotten in histories and when women are present in archives it is often only the women of the upper classes and elites that get told. In this brief lunchtime talk we will explore the stories of women, forgotten, from the Usk Gaol books. Exploring these women's lives not only unearths forgotten stories of women from Gwent, it touches on important themes such as immigration, female
servants, the occupations held by women in the 1800's, young girls convicted of crimes and sent to reform schools in England, and much more.
