Advice For Community Groups / Individuals Supplying Food To The Community During COVID-19

As a result of the COVID 19 Pandemic, you may be assisting the community by supplying/ delivering food to the public.  This is an essential service and the authority does not wish to discourage community support, however there may be a few things you need to consider in order to carry out the service safely. 

The Commercial Team within the Public Protection department are here to assist your enterprise in safely delivering food to the community.  Where you have organised a Food Hub of Community Food Share or anything similar that includes any activities such as the collection of food, distribution of food, preparation of food, etc. it is important that you engage with our team to ensure that i operating safely and legally. 

The enterprise may need to register with the authority, this process is easy and free of charge and can be completed by following this link Register a Food Enterprise

The Food Standers Agency have drafted some guidance that you may find helpful and should follow, the Commercial Team are more than happy to guide you through this information and the processes you have in place to ensure that your enterprise / arrangements are a success.     

In the current COVID 19 pandemic it is vitally important that your enterprise / arrangements follow the current Public Health guidance to protect the volunteers along with ensuring protection of individuals that you are supplying, particularly those that are the most vulnerable, by following the Self-isolation or Shielding guidance.
