#EmbraceEquity is this year’s theme for International Women’s Day 2023 (IWD) which is the message designed to make the world take notice that just talking about equality is no longer enough.
IWD is a global day celebrating the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women. It is an opportunity to recognise the determination and courage of women who have changed history and acknowledge those who continue to do so. IWD 2023 campaign raises awareness on the worldwide understanding of equal opportunities and acts as a platform in the pursuit of gender equity for future generations.
Councillor Helen Cunningham, Deputy Leader/Cabinet Member for Place & Environment said:
“International Women’s Day is our chance to celebrate womankind and reflect upon the achievements and advances made by and on behalf of women. In Blaenau Gwent we are celebrating all women, and today has been an opportunity to recognise some of them locally. We have many talented, formidable women and unsung heroines in our communities. It’s been fantastic to shine a light on who they are the incredible things they are doing.”
