Full range of recycling services available at the Roseheyworth Household Waste and Recycle Centre

The Roseheyworth Household Waste and Recycle Centre (HWRC) Abertillery opened to the public in April 2021 and provides a full range of recycling services.

Drivers are now able to follow a simple one-way system around the new centre. Parking bays provide convenient access to the high-sided skips on the upper level or alternative recycling facilities which are neatly positioned at ground level. The flat kerb-free parking bays enhance and remove potential trip hazards for people carrying waste from their cars. The sorting shelter even has a canopy to keep residents dry when placing items into the smaller recycling containers.

Not only can the Centre accept over 40 different waste streams, it also has a very a long, straight approach road leading to the site. If required, this would help ease congestion and help support the flow of traffic during peak times.

All visits to Roseheyworth need to be pre-booked in advance which ensures long queues are removed and waiting times reduced. Additionally, you can select a booking time that is convenient to you. However, you will be required to bring proof of booking and failure to do so may result in vehicles being turned away.

Councillor Joanna Wilkins, Executive Member for the Environment says:
“This purpose-built recycling centre will enable residents to recycle and re-use their rubbish safely and efficiently, it will help us meet national recycling targets and protect the environment for future generations.”

Full details on how to book an appointment and guidelines for your visit is available on the Council’s website: https://www.blaenau-gwent.gov.uk/en/resident/waste-recycling/visit-a-recycling-centre/
You can call us on 01495 311556 or visit one of our new Community Hubs based in your local library for further help. The site is open 6 days a week Wednesday to Monday from 9am to 5:30pm and closed Tuesday, last entry is at 5:20pm.

The centre also features a re-use shop know as ‘The Den’ which is operated by Wastesavers.
