Blaina Chartist Visitor Centre

Learn about the chartist movement, their fight for voting reform & social justice and its connection with Nantyglo & Blaina. Salem chapel’s information centre houses a permanent exhibition of the chartist movement. Located within the upper reaches of the Gwent Valleys in South Wales, Nantyglo and Blaina have an exciting history of Scotch Cattle activity, riots and the Chartist Uprising. Visitors can view the story of the Chartist Movement and events leading up to the March on 4th November 1839 and find out about the characters involved, John Frost, Zephaniah Williams and William Jones, what motivated them and their legacy.
