Introduction to Universal Credit

Private Rented Sector Awareness Event

The introduction of Universal Credit (UC) represents a fundamental change to the system of “legacy benefits” and tax credits that it is replacing.

Universal Credit Full Service is currently being rolled out throughout the United Kingdom with Blaenau Gwent due to go live in April 2018.

You will be affected from the above date if you rent from a Private / Social Landlord and are required to make a new claim for any of the 6 benefits Universal Credit is replacing, Job Seekers Allowance (Income Based), Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credits, Chid Tax Credits, Employment Support Allowance (Income related) and Income Support.

Blaenau Gwent Housing and Housing Benefit Sections are hosting a Universal Credit awareness event aimed at the private rented sector on Wednesday 27th September 2017 in the Metropole Theatre, Abertillery. Coffee and registration is from 9.30am.
