Recycle Your Food Waste
Why recycle your food waste?
When recycled, food waste can be turned into something useful. Your food waste is taken to a processing facility where it is used to generate electricity to power homes and the local community.
Good to know
Six recycled tea bags could produce enough electricity to boil a kettle for another cuppa.
If everyone in Blaenau Gwent recycled one banana peel it could create enough energy to power a typical home for more than 90 days. To find out more top tips and information, visit recycleforwales. You can also join in the conversation at: @recycle4wales or recycleforwales (Facebook).
Food for thought
Remember there is no amount too small. The best thing we can do with our food is enjoy it but some waste like banana peels, tea bags and plate scrapings are unavoidable.

- Tea bags
- Mouldy or out of date food
- Bread and pastries
