School governors

The role of a school governor has become increasingly important as governing bodies are expected to make long-term strategic decisions for the future of their schools. We are very fortunate in Blaenau Gwent to have committed governors who give freely of their time and provide support and challenge to our schools with the overall aim to raise standards in education.

To enable governors to fulfil this role, they are supported by a Governor Support and Development Team, which:

  • Provides governors with the Mandatory and Strategic Development training programme
  • Provides an effective and efficient governing body clerking service
  • Provides timely and relevant advice and support on all school governance issues.

This Governor support service for Blaenau Gwent schools will be provided by the Education Achievement Service (EAS) for South East Wales.

We are always keen to recruit new Governors so if you are passionate about being involved with our schools please get in touch using the contact details below.
