Support with universal credit
Universal Credit is claimed online and you will need to have an e-mail address.
If you would like help claiming Universal Credit then you can contact Get Blaenau Gwent Online or visit the Customer Services Section in the Civic Centre, Ebbw Vale, where staff will be able to help you. You can also call 01495 353398.
Universal Credit will be paid in:
- A single, monthly payment of all your benefits, including help with rent.
Managing your money
A Budget might help you spread your money over the month. If you need help setting and sticking to a budget then the Money Advice Service has a handy guide on how to budget on a low income.
You could also use a budget planner. These are available free from Money Advice Service.
Alternatively, you can contact the Customer Service Section in the Civic Centre who can assist you and support you and possibly make a referral to the relevant organisation if required for example Citizens Advice Bureau who are in the Civic Centre every Monday.

You will need to have a bank account. If you need a bank account the Money Advice Service has advice on running a bank account including tips on how to choose the right account. Or you could contact the Customer Services Section in the Civic Centre who will assist and provide guidance on how to set up an account.
