The Wind in the Willows at Abergavenny Castle

The well-loved tales from the riverbank of Ratty, Toad, Mole and friends are brought to life by Gwent Young People’s Theatre in a spectacular open-air production of The Wind in the Willows at Abergavenny Castle.

Kenneth Grahame’s charming classic is adapted by Alan Bennett and is both true to the original whilst carrying the distinctive Bennett hallmark.

A treat for all ages, the Wind in the Willows is a rousing adventure with Ratty, Mole, Badger and Mr Toad battling the scheming stoats and wiley weasels who attempt to take over Toad Hall.

The production, set in the beautiful grounds of Abergavenny Castle, is at 7pm on Thursday and Friday 24 and 25 July with a matinee on Saturday, 26 July at 2.30pm.

Under theatre directors Gary Meredith and Steve Badman, Gwent Young People’s Theatre promise to bring a delightful and colourful show of special magic as the inhabitants of Wild Wood step into the outdoor arena with the historic Castle in the background.

You can bring a picnic and something to sit on and enjoy an exciting and lively performance that will transport you to the imaginary riverbank in a show that is suitable for adults and children of all ages.

Gwent Young People’s Theatre was established 52 years’ ago, providing opportunities for members to experience a variety of theatre activities and productions under the direction of professional theatre practitioners.
