Library Services

How do I join?

Joining the library is simple if you live, work or study in Blaenau Gwent. All we ask is that you provide us some form of identification which should be a formal document showing your name and address. Valid documents include a utility bill, drivers license, passport etc.

Children

We provide a range of services for children. All application forms for membership of children and young people under 16 require the signature of a parent or guardian.
 
Where can I use my library card?

You can use your library card at any of the libraries within Blaenau Gwent. This means you can borrow items and return them to any of the libraries e.g. items borrowed from Tredegar can be returned to Brynmawr if you so wish.
 
How many items can I borrow?

  • a combination of 15 books and/or Books on Tape for up to 3 weeks
  • 5 music items for up to 1 week
  • 5 DVD's for up to 1 week
  • 2 Playstation 3/Xbox 360/Nintendo Wii games per week
     

How much does it cost?

Borrowing books is free.
There is a charge for borrowing CDs, cassettes, DVDs, videos and language courses, but you may be free from some charges or entitled to concessions.
If you are aged over 18 you will also be charged for the late return of items including books.
If you want to know if you are entitled to any concessions please ask a member of library staff.
