Sharing books from a very early age is fun and will help children learn to talk and later to read more easily. Children who listen to stories learn lots of new words and sentences. This gives them a good start when they go to playgroup, nursery and school.
As your child grows and develops there will be many things to learn about. Colours, shapes, sizes and numbers. The library has books that will deal with special situations - hospitals, dentists and starting school.
You can explore these new worlds together by sharing a book. Help your child to discover the pleasure of reading.
Libraries are a great place to have fun, do your homework or just meet your friends. If you are not a member of the library take a look at what we have to offer and ask a member of staff for a membership form the next time you're in.
What will I find in my library?
How to join
Children can join the library at any age. It's completely FREE, just bring along some proof of your name and address. Children can have their own tickets and can borrow up to 10 books for 3 weeks. Libraries are charge free zones for children borrowing books, but please keep the books safe and return them on time.
We want children to enjoy libraries from an early age, now you child is joining the library - why don't you?
