What were you doing in the Summer of 1992?
Perhaps like many of us you spent the summer out side enjoying the largest festival that has ever been held in Blaenau Gwent. In 1992 Garden Festival Wales was held in Ebbw Vale. It opened its doors on the 1st May and some 5 months later it had welcomed 2 million visitors through its gates.
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is planning an exhibition of memories and has joined forces with 3VTV, our very own Digital TV channel to make a series of films about the festival. One of the films will be devoted to your memories of the event, what you did, where you went, what was your lasting memory. Everyone will have different recollections.
To some of you it may have been the amazing displays in the Floral Hall, others may recall the performances in the Rainbow Theatre, while younger visitors may remember the first McDonalds in Ebbw Vale or visiting Sam Tân (Fireman Sam) in Pontypandy. Whatever it was we would like to hear from you. Were you at the Wales v England rugby match?
Who were in the teams and did you keep the programme? There were loads of places to eat and drink on the site but which flavours did you savour and which ones do you still remember?
There are many ways to get in touch. The best way is to fill in the survey. If you have any images you can upload them to Flickr and send us the link so we can see them. You may also have some home made cine film or video shot on the festival site, if it has been digitally converted, load it on to Youtube and again send us the link. Finally if you have any other queries call us on 01495 355937 or at alyson.tippings@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk
