School - Work Experience Placements

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council welcomes students into its establishments for work experience placements.  Every effort is made to place students into the working environment they have requested.

Staff will endeavour to guide them in any way they can to enable the student to have a better understanding of the local government environment.

Work experience placements provide opportunities and benefits to both students and employers.  These include influencing the quality of future employees, developing recruitment channels and influencing career choices.

The aim of work experience is to help students prepare for the world of work and the associated responsibilities, disciplines, and variety of work opportunities available within local government.  It also helps students to develop their personal and social attitudes and enhances their individual learning and broadens their horizons.

Blaenau Gwent students wishing to apply for a placement with the Council must do so through their school's / college's work experience co-ordinator.  The Council will not be able to accept students who ring up or call in personally.
