Housing - Alterations By Tenants

Before you carry out any improvements or alterations to your property you must ask for and obtain permission in writing from the:

Principal Technical Officer, Housing Services, Anvil Court, Church Street, Abertillery .

A Technical Officer will carry out an inspection where necessary.

• Permission is required when you intend:
• Installing systems to heat your home
• Altering the supply of water, gas, electricity
• Changing sanitation facilities (e.g. toilets, sinks)
• Altering the structure of your home (e.g. internal walls)
• Installing a new kitchen
• Building a shed
• Erecting a fence                     

This list is not exhaustive. You must ask for permission before making any alterations/improvements inside or outside your property.

Please notify the council if you intend carrying out works on walls, windows or door frames to allow wiring into your home for telephones, TV, etc.
