Recycling in Blaenau Gwent got easier. From Monday 6 July 2009 collections of all your recycling and refuse are taking place on the same day.
Our improved recycling service means everyone has one day of the week when our kerbside collections teams call round.
Two sacks – one blue and one clear - are provided for you to put out recyclables. They replace the blue bins. Look on the next page for details of what goes where.
Remember, please: on your collection day your recycling, refuse and food waste out for collection before 7am.
The changes to our kerbside recycling services will make it easier for you to recycle. You no longer have to spend time separating your recycling.
Our new and improved service will help you. No more sorting all recyclables. Cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars go straight into the blue bag – paper, envelopes and cardboard go into the clear bag.

Young recycling champs
Teenagers Rhys Hamblin and Lulu Zhana are members of Tredegar Comprehensive School’s environmental team. They are keen to get to grips with the new recycling service and they tried out the new blue bags – for cans, plastic and glass – and the new clear bags – for paper and cardboard.
Their verdict: there is more room for stuff to go to recycling.
