Home Composting
Want to reduce the amount of waste that is generated by your home? Well, it couldn’t be easier to get started and begin recycling in your very own garden!
Around a third of the waste that is put into our rubbish bins is biodegradable and could be composted at home.
Many people believe that they can only put garden waste into a home composting bin, but this is only one of a number of household items that could be added to create enriched compost that can be used in your garden.
If you would like to get involved we are offering compost bins at the subsidized price of £5 each with free delivery!
Just remember any waste that we can stop going to landfill will help us to protect the environment.

Like any type of recipe it is important to use correct mixture. Greens – these are good things to put into your compost bin because they are quick to rot and they will provide important nitrogen and moisture for your compost. Browns – these are slower to rot and they provide fiber and carbon. Browns also allow important air pockets to form in the mixture. Try to get an equal mixture of greens and browns.
The bins are available from Blaenau Gwent County Borough.
