1. The Developing Brain 30th April, 2018
How does your child’s brain work, what affects its development, and how you can support its development.
2. Adverse Childhood Experiences – ACE’s 14th May 2018
Experiencing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) means children who experience stressful and poor quality childhoods are more likely to perform poorly in school, to adopt health-harming behaviours during adolescence which can lead to mental health illnesses and diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes later in life. This session will give an insight into what is meant when children experience trauma and the effect it may have.
3. Emotional Intelligence 4th June 2018
Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive, control and evaluate emotions - in oneself and others - and to use that information appropriately. Individual with good emotional intelligence have been shown to be good at achieving life goals. Find out how to support and encourage it in your children.
4. Attachment 2nd July 2018
Secure attachment to their caregiver gives children confidence to explore their environment and develop a good sense of self-esteem. This will help the child grow up to be a happy and functioning adult. Find out how to develop secure attachments with your child.
5. Bullying – Everybody’s business 16th July 2018
Children have highlighted that bullying is an issue. Find out how we tell the difference between bullying and conflict and strategies for dealing with bullying behaviour.
