Seventy years ago, Nye Bevan created the National Health Service – an institution that is still ranked as the best health system in the world. Bevan was born and bred in Tredegar, and this year the town will celebrate his powerful and compassionate legacy during a week of celebrations.

1/7/2018 Bevan Day - with a Trade Union Banner parade, specially commissioned music, exhibitions, speeches and stalls, as well as lighting a miner’s lamp that will be presented to Parliament.
Other events include children’s art and writing exhibitions at Bedwellty House, as well as showings of various films about Bevan himself.
