People are key to the success of every business.  The Economic Development Team offers a recruitment solution to help local employers find the right staff with the right skills.  An Employment and Enterprise Officer works with key partners such as Jobcentre Plus, Working Links, local colleges and training providers to co-ordinate a complete recruitment and skills package.  The economic development aim is to match local people with local job opportunities.

Include your skills on a skills database for the Manufacturing and Construction sector

BGCBC is currently offering recruitment and training support for existing businesses and potential inward investors and aiming to establish a demand focused, work ready employment pool for the manufacturing/engineering and construction sector. Through engagement with the business sector, key partners and local residents, BGCBC aims to;

  • Identify current and future skills and employment requirements within the manufacturing/engineering and construction  sectors
  • Offer opportunities for individuals to gain key skills and qualifications relating to the sector
  • Develop a skills database to ensure labour requirements can be sourced wherever possible, from within Blaenau Gwent

Individual support:

  • Inclusion on a skills database
  • Notification of local employment opportunities
  • Support to gain skills and qualifications

Partner support:

  • Signposting individuals to opportunities
  • Funding support for unemployed individuals
  • Signpost relevant training to individuals
