Language & Play, Number & Play

LAP 1

The Language and Play (LAP) is a new training initiative developed in consultation with the Early Years and Sure Start Partnerships.  It is a pack covering six workshops to help parents promote early language development, play, listening, talking and fun with their babies and toddlers.

The programme consists of six one and-a-half hour sessions, which include:
      

  • The importance of talk
  • Talking and playing in everyday situations
  • Talking and playing – Out and About
  • Sharing books and stories
  • Enjoying rhyme and song
  • Early writing

Sessions include a video clip, joint activities, singing & stories through the medium of English or Welsh.

The Language and Play programme can be found in Early Years Settings e.g. Parent & Toddler groups, Playgroups, Nurseries, Family Centres & Health Clinics etc.

Number fun ideas for parents and young children to learn together.

Number and Play (NAP) is a short programme for parents and carers in Wales who have children aged 1-3 years.  It follows on from LAP and offers information, ideas and tips on counting, numbers, shapes, sizes and time.
