School - Exclusion Of Pupils

image

Unfortunately there may be an occasion that a pupil will need to be excluded from school.   An exclusion can be for a fixed term (a day/number of days) or on permanent basis.  In these circumstances the Headteacher is the only person who has the right to exclude a child and when this happens the parent/carer should be notified immediately.

A letter containing the following should be sent to the parent/carer within one school day of the Headteachers decision to exclude their pupil.

  • a detailed explanation for the exclusion
  • the procedures adopted to try and avoid the exclusion
  • the length of the fixed term exclusion
  • the date the child should return to school
  • the arrangements for school work to be carried out at home whilst the pupil is away from school
  • details of how to appeal to the School Governing Body

If you would like to speak to someone with regard to Pupil Exclusion please contact  the Inclusion Team on 01495 212244.
