Adult Education Courses

A wide range of courses for adults are available in various centres located throughout Blaenau Gwent.  Courses take place both during the day and in the evening to try to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to take advantage of what is on offer.

Art & Craft courses include Cake Decoration, Drawing and Painting, Pottery, Stained Glass Craft, Sewing, Hairdressing, Beauty, Calligraphy, Photography, Flower Arranging, Musical Keyboarding, Guitar and much more.

Computer courses, suitable for people of all levels, are available at most centres.  Open Learning Centres also offer a very flexible approach to learning how to use a computer, at a time that is suitable for you and where you can start at any time of the year.

General Education and Training courses include Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, GCSEs, First Aid, Cache Certificates for Teaching Assistants, English as a Second Language and Family History.

Language courses are available, at different levels, for Welsh, French, Spanish, German, Lip Reading and Sign Language.

The aim of the BiG Learning Community is to offer a wide range of easily accessible learning opportunities across Blaenau Gwent. 

Improve your English or Maths courses are available for anyone who would like to improve their skills.  All levels are covered from beginner to GCSE.

Family Learning courses are run at Primary Schools and community groups and include Keeping up with the Children in English and Maths, Family Literacy, Family Numeracy, Financial Literacy and Health Matters.

Adult Key Skills offers courses, with one-to-one support if required, in Computers, Maths, Reading and Writing, Spelling, Managing Money, Applying for a Job and Improving Yourself.
