The Language and Play (LAP) is a new training initiative developed in consultation with the Early Years and Sure Start Partnerships. It is a pack covering six workshops to help parents promote early language development, play, listening, talking and fun with their babies and toddlers.
The programme consists of six one and-a-half hour sessions, which include:
- The importance of talk
- Talking and playing in everyday situations
- Talking and playing – Out and About
- Sharing books and stories
- Enjoying rhyme and song
- Early writing
Sessions include a video clip, joint activities, singing & stories through the medium of English or Welsh.
The Language and Play programme can be found in Early Years Settings e.g. Parent & Toddler groups, Playgroups, Nurseries, Family Centres & Health Clinics etc.
