Newbridge Station

The station at Newbridge is situated on the site of the old station. This was identified in the deposit Caerphilly Unitary Development Plan for retail development, however, the site was also safeguarded for the railway station. A planning application for the site gained approved for a Park and Ride station and a retail unit.

The station will be located at the eastern end of Newbridge town centre – eventually it will have two platforms. However initially one platform has been constructed on the eastern side of the line. The platform has a shelter and separate ramped and stepped access.

Cycle lockers are provided within the station car park.

Phase Two infrastructure will include a second platform, to serve both tracks. The two platforms will be linked by a ramped pedestrian footbridge.

The station is expected to provide significant interchange with buses – being close to the local shopping centre – and is therefore likely to be one of the more significant sites for passenger demand.
