Trains will run once an hour between Ebbw Vale and Cardiff.

Passenger services will operate 7 days a week between approximately 06.30 and 23.30 (with reduced hours of operation on weekends). The projected journey times are just under an hour for services from Ebbw Vale Parkway to Cardiff. The trains operating will be Arriva Trains Wales 150 DMU or similar rolling stock.

There will also be bus services linking Abertillery town centre with the station at Llanhilleth (when it is open for passenger use) and also linking Ebbw Vale town centre with Ebbw Vale Parkway station. Interchange opportunities with local bus services will also be provided at Crosskeys, Newbridge, Llanhilleth and Ebbw Vale Parkway. This, together with the provision of cycle and car parking, will increase the catchment of the Ebbw Valley Railway and will widen the benefits of the scheme to more local people.

When the next phases of essential railway infrastructure work have been carried, there will be scope to run an additional hourly service on the Ebbw Valley Railway to Newport.
