Passenger services start on Ebbw Valley Railway
Arriva Trains Wales will start to operate passenger train services between Ebbw Vale and Cardiff on Wednesday, 6 February, 2008.
The first train from Ebbw Vale Parkway Station to Cardiff Central Station will depart at 06:40 and the first train from Cardiff Central Station to Ebbw Vale Parkway Station will depart at 06:35. An hourly service will then continue in each direction.
The railway was handed over to Network Rail for operational use on 17 December 2007 – this allowed Arriva Trains Wales driver route familiarisation to begin.
The Ebbw Valley Railway is an exciting project to re-open the line so passengers can make the journey from Ebbw Vale to Cardiff by train for the first time in over 40 years.
Blaenau Gwent Council is working with the Welsh Assembly Government, Network Rail, Arriva Trains Wales, Capita Symonds, Amey Rail, Caerphilly County Borough Council and Newport City Council on the Ebbw Valley Railway project.
