Blaenau Gwent’s new Mayor is Coun John Williams M.B.E. J.P. – the first Independent councillor to be elected to the top civic post,
Coun Williams has served as a Blaenau Gwent councillor for the Rassau ward for 34 years.
He was elected Mayor without opposition at Blaenau Gwent Council’s annual meeting held in the Civic Centre, Ebbw Vale, on Thursday, 28 May 2009.
