Blaenau Gwent's new Mayor is Councillor Brian Thomas - the first Liberal Democratic Councillor to be elected to the top civic post.
Councillor Thomas has served as a Blaenau Gwent Councillor for 37 years on the Sirhowy Ward.
He was elected Mayor on annual meeting held in the Civic Centre, Ebbw Vale, on Thursday, 27th May, 2010
