Better kerbside recycling
Put out your bins and bags on the same day

Recycling in Blaenau Gwent just got easier. From Monday 6 July 2009 collections of your recycling and refuse all take place on the same day.

Residents are given two sacks for their recycling – The blue and clear sacks have replaced the blue boxes.  For details of what goes in where please see below.

We hope that the changes to our kerbside recycling services will make it easier for you to get involved in recycling.  You will no longer have to spend time separating your recycling for collection.

Here’s a guide to what goes where:

Put the following into your blue sack

Yes, please
Cans - food and drinks cans, foil
    Plastic – bottles
    Glass – bottles and jars

Put your paper and cardboard into the clear sack.

Yes, please
     Paper
    Cardboard

X No, thanks

Broken glass, crockery, Pyrex, vision ware or window glass
Plastic - plastic bags, cling film, polystyrene meat trays, toys
     Paint tins
     Food contaminated cardboard

Remember to:

  •  Rinse materials and squash them so they take up less space
  •  To put everything out for collection on the same day
  •  Put all your recycling, refuse and kitchen waste out for collection before 7am
