History

Many reminders of the industrial revolution can be seen at Nantyglo and Blaina, once important centres of iron making and coal-mining. The Roundhouse Towers and the foundations of T^y Mawr Mansion can be visited, though the Roundhouse Towers are privately owned and viewing is restricted to the external part of the site.

Salem Chapel in Blaina is open to the public and worth a visit to learn more about the Chartist movement and its connection with Nantyglo & Blaina. Salem Chapel is an information centre which houses a permanent exhibition of the Chartist movement . Seasonal opening March – December on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11am – 3pm.

Blaina Town Centre is home to a number of friendly specialist independent retailers and businesses offering a good range of products to shoppers who can take advantage of the free parking throughout the Town Centre.
