Corporate Procurement
Welcome to the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council Corporate Procurement Unit (CPU) webpages.
The CPU is part of the Financial Policy Division located within the Resources Department. Procurement works alongside The Service Efficiency Improvement Team and the Policy and Technical Team.
The Council purchases a wide range of goods, works and services from many companies, for values ranging from a few pounds to many thousands of pounds.
The Unit was established on the 1st April 2003. Its role being to provide strategic advice and support to all directorates within the Authority, and to ensure a consistent approach to procurement across a wide range of goods, works and services.
We aim to continuously improve the procurement process so as to obtain best value from the contracts we enter into and to minimise the administration costs of buying, whilst ensuring that all procurement complies with the Council’s rules and national and European Law.
