Officers from the Pollution Control Team routinely take samples of various sources of water to ensure that they are safe to use.  We routinely sample the following:

Private Water Supplies

In Blaenau Gwent there are 35 private water supplies.  These are sampled and anaylsed to ensure that they comply with The Private Water Supplies (Wales) Regulations 2010.

Swimming Pool and Spas 

Samples are taken from the swimming pools and spas in Sports Centres and other hydotherapy pools four times a year to ensure that the disinfection processes being used are effectively treating the water.

Hospital Kitchens and Food Producers

Samples are taken from major food producers in the area and from hospital kitchens to ensure that the water supply is safe to use.
