How to Provide Us with Information
Trading Standards are always grateful for information relating to illegal trading, whether it be:- The sale and/or manufacturing of counterfeit goods (including the substitution of branded alcohol in pubs and clubs).
- Traders who cold call and carry out sub standard services or sell unsafe/falsely described goods (typically tarmac gangs, furniture sellers, roofing repairers).
- Information relating to the unsafe storage and sale of fireworks and explosives (including storage in private houses).
- Underage selling of age restricted goods to children.
- Any instances of business fraud where companies or individuals have deliberately misled consumers in order to obtain payment.
- Illegal money lending or instances where loan providers are using debt collection practices causing distress/alarm to borrowers.
- Any other information where goods or services have been falsely described or misleadingly priced.
- Instances where short weight or short measure goods have been sold.
- Food sold past its use by date.
Please note by providing this information you will help protect consumers from unscrupulous traders and ensure legitimate businesses don’t suffer from unfair competition.
The information provided will be dealt with in the strictest confidence and be held securely in accordance with National Intelligence Handling Codes of Practice. There is no need to provide your name or address or telephone number if you don’t want to but if you do you can be assured it will be held securely and your details not released to anyone outside a small number of officers within the Trading Standards Department.
