Youth Theatre Showcases Blaenau Gwent Talent

Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre have been showcasing their talents on stage performing in their exciting new production of Alan Ayckbourn’s Gizmo at the Beaufort Theatre and Ballroom, Ebbw Vale.

Youth theatre members aged 14 - 25 from across Blaenau Gwent rehearsed this fantastic adaptation of the well-known film for months.

The production – Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre’s second – was part of a larger drama project that provided:


Directed by Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre’s drama teacher Lisa Harris and Lizzie Rogan, Gizmo is a fast paced, dark comedy that tells the tale of an ordinary man victimised by a horrific crime that has left him paralysed with fear.

Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre was established in 2005 as a legacy of the successful Nye Bevan project at the Beaufort Theatre. 

Since its launch, Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre has grown in popularity with more young people joining in and learning new acting and technical skills. Their first production was Bridges in 2006.

The Youth Theatre project has been made possible with funding from the Arts Council of Wales and Blaenau Gwent county Borough Council.

Would you like to join? Blaenau Gwent Youth Theatre meets every Tuesday evening 7pm – 9pm at the Beaufort Theatre and Ballroom and is open to all young people aged 14 up to 25. New members are welcome.
