Libraries - Computers & The Internet

image" />

The People's Network is a multi-million Government funded initiative to provide people with free access to the Internet and computer facilities in every public library in the UK. The money provided to install all of the equipment you see in the libraries come from NOF (The New Opportunities Fund).

All  libraries in Blaenau Gwent have access to the People's Network. Using the People's Network computers you can surf the Net, send e-mail, and use software to make your own documents, presentations, spreadsheets, pictures etc.

Every library also has special facilities to try and accommodate all customers needs with large keyboards, track balls, voice output etc for people with disabilities. If you need help in accessing the computers please ask a member of staff.

You can access the People's Network freely in any library. All libraries operate a booking system for registered members, and we advise you to book ahead. However, you can just drop in and if a PC is available you can make an instant booking.

If you are not a library member you can still use the People's Network facilities however, you cannot pre-book and will only be allowed a maximum of up to 1/2 hour per session. Regular People's Network users are strongly urged to join the Library, which is simple to do and free.

Before using any of the computer facilities customers must agree and sign our Acceptable Use Policy. Children under the age of 16 must have the Acceptable Use Policy signed by a parent or guardian. This signature must be made in the presence of a member of staff. (This is because the parent or guardian is legally responsible for the individual using the equipment)
