Children & Young People's Plan

Blaenau Gwent Children and Young People’s Partnership (CYPP) has developed the first Children and Young People’s Plan (CYP Plan) covering the period 2008 to 2011.

The vision of the Children and Young People’s Partnership is “Working together we will strive to ensure that all children and young people will be supported to achieve their full potential”.

The Children and Young People’s Plan is the vehicle for delivering this vision.  Having one ‘single plan’ for the delivery of services for children and young people demonstrates a new way of planning.  The plan illustrates how all agencies working with children and young people within Blaenau Gwent will cooperate to achieve common goals, to improve outcomes for children and young people. The aim is to deliver, on a multi agency basis, responsive, innovative and effective services to children, young people and their families.

The plan is ambitious and challenging; it places children’s rights and entitlements at the centre of the agenda.  The Partnership believes the involvement of children, young people and families is fundamental to the success of the plan, and therefore involved them in all stages of the plan’s development.  The plan will help to ensure all staff working with children and young people understand the contribution that they are making to improving outcomes.

The Partnership and the CYP Plan is the starting point, the next stage is the delivery of actions, focusing resources on key priorities.  The Partnership has developed action plans to underpin the CYP Plan, these will ensure partner accountability and responsibility for delivery of the plan’s priorities.
