THE COUNCIL
Where all 42 Councillors meet to debate issues and approve any major new policies and spending plans.
THE EXECUTIVE
The Executive consists of the Leader and 8 other Councillors, which are appointed annually by the Council. The Executive carries out all of the Local Authority's functions, which are not the responsiblity of any other part of the Local Authority.
The Executive makes major council decisions, prepares policies and strategies and drives continious improvement in the way the council operates.
Each of the Councillors has specific areas of responsibility and these are detailed below:-
SCRUTINY COMMITTEES
Review and scrutinise decisions made by the Executive, make recommendations for change based on their research and assist the Council and Executive in the development of its budget and policy framework.
