13 January 2006
Published Welsh writer Joshua Hartzenberg will be visiting Blaenau Gwent Libraries on Friday 3rd February 2006 with his first book “Harry’s Troubled Life”. He will visit libraries in Blaina, Abertillery, Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and Tredegar to sign copies of his book and answer questions about his work and publishing in general.
“Harry's Troubled Life” tells the story of a three-year-old boy, whose life was turned upside down when he suffers brain damage in a horrific accident. Both affecting and uplifting, the tale tells of the abuse Harry suffers at the hands of his mother and stepfather, his eventual, remarkable recovery and how a loving relationship brings him joy and a happy family life.
Joshua Hartzenberg is visiting to discuss his work as part of the “Welsh Writing in English” programme, promoting local Welsh authors who write in English. Blaenau Gwent libraries stock many books by local authors on a wide range of subjects from fiction to local history. If you have any questions or would like a recommendation, ask a member of staff, who will be glad to help. Also, look out for further visits from local writers as part of the “Look Who’s Coming…” series!
