Nannies look after children in the family home. They are not currently regulated and do not have to register unless they also work for another family.
Nannies are employed by the parent and their duties are open to negotiation. It is important to discuss what you expect from a nanny before employing one. Nannies will generally look after all aspects of a child's welfare. They may baby-sit on a regular basis, but are not likely to do housework. They may live in or come to th ehome daily.
