This is a Community Alarm Service, which offers help and assistance to elderly, disabled and vulnerable persons living in their own homes. An alarm system offers piece of mind and security and helps to maintain independence by providing a 24-hour emergency monitoring service.
How does the Community Alarm System Work?
Pressing the button on your pendant or Lifeline unit sends an immediate signal to the Control Centre. Whichever room you are in, a quality two-way speech is then possible within seconds through an integral loud speaker in the Lifeline unit. You can talk to the Control Centre staff and explain your problem and they will do their utmost to help – from contacting your doctor to making sure a friend or neighbour comes around to give you a hand.
What Does the Control Centre Need to Know?
The Control Centre needs to know about your G.P. relatives and anybody who would be able to assist in an emergency.
The information will then be put onto the computer at the Control Centre and will automatically be displayed every time you activate the alarm. Therefore, if for some reason you are not able to speak to the operator, they will know who you are and where you are by the information displayed on the screen.
All information supplied by you is completely confidential and the Control Centre Staff are governed by the rules of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
If your circumstances should change, you may telephone the Control Centre and they will amend the information on the computer. It is important that our information is up to date to ensure no time is wasted in the event of an emergency.
Voice Recording
All conversations that take place at the Control Centre, either by telephone or via the community alarm system are recorded.
This is for your personal protection and ensures that we have a record of any incidents that may occur.
