Is anyone exempt from these fees?
No, everyone has to pay these fees.
Will my telephone be affected by the Lifeline?
No, your telephone will work as normal. Apart from when an emergency call has been activated, then anyone attempting to call you on the telephone will hear the engaged tone.
Will the pendant work upstairs or out in the garden?
Yes, the pendant has a range of up to 50 meters away from the main unit.
What happens if the alarm is activated by mistake?
There is a cancel button on the main alarm unit. If you are able to press it within 5 seconds of activating the alarm, this will cancel the call. After 5 seconds however, the call comes through automatically. This is not a problem – just explain to the operator that it was pressed by mistake and the staff member will be happy to close the call down.
What happens if I am too far away from the main unit to make speech contact with the operator?
This is not a problem, if the operator is unable to hear you for whatever reason – they will contact your next-of -kin/relative that you have nominated on your emergency contact list
Is the pendant water proof?
No, the pendant is not water proof. It is splash proof, but it is not to be submerged in water.
Can I wear the pendant to bed?
It is not recommended that you wear the pendant to bed – in case you accidentally press it while you are asleep, but keep close at hand in case you need to use it
Is the Control Room open all day?
Yes. The Control Centre is open 24 hour a day, 365 days a year.
If two or more people live at the property, can they each have a pendant?
Yes, two or more pendants can be programmed into the Lifeline.
