Engaging and Consulting with Stakeholders

The Council is committed to engaging and consulting with its residents and stakeholders, and currently carries out a considerable amount of engagement activities.  It does this using many different methods and techniques, such as:

  • Postal Questionnaires;
  • Surveys;
  • Local Forums;
  • Public Meetings;
  • Focus Groups;
  • Exhibitions and Events;
  • Consultation on Strategy and Policy Documents.

The Council does this to give its residents and stakeholders the opportunity to have their say, and uses the information and intelligence it gathers to make informed decisions.

Resident Satisfaction Survey 2005
In 2005 the Council commissioned the independent Research Company, MORI to undertake a widespread household survey.  It did this to find out what residents thought about living in Blaenau Gwent and what they thought about the services the Council delivered.

Making Consultation Better
The Council is currently carrying out work to develop a Consultation Strategy and Framework that will enable the organisation to engage with its stakeholders and citizens more effectively and efficiently.

This is being done to ensure that Council services are customer focused, and reflect the needs and aspirations of the local area.

At present, an audit of all engagement and consultation activities is being undertaken to help take this process forward.
