Proactive Tree Survey Works

Blaenau Gwent Council are responsible for all trees located on Council managed land and as such have a duty of care to ensure that these trees are healthy and cause minimal risk to the public.

A proactive tree condition survey on Council owned trees, commenced in July 2010 and is currently ongoing with many trees being surveyed on an annual basis.

Trees identified as requiring work are prioritised based on the urgency of work required and any identified health and safety hazard. For trees that require immediate attention a contractor is appointed to ensure that the tree is made safe as soon as possible. All other tree maintenance works are logged onto our database and are included on the tree contractors list of ongoing works.

Please note that surveys and works are only undertaken on trees that are owned by the Council. The upkeep of trees that are on private land is the responsibility of the landowner – more information regarding work on private trees can be found in the FAQ section .

Trees which are associated with social housing are now the responsibility of Tai Calon and residents should call 0300 303 1717 or email info@taicalon.org.
